Surroundings

Costa Verde (Green Coast) Angra dos Reis, Ilha Grande, Paraty, etc.

Islands, bays, beaches, mountains, and the indescribable beauty of the sea, available through diving in warm waters. The natural beauty and resources of the Green Coast are uncountable – the sea color, the Atlantic Forest’s exuberance, the endless number of paradise like islands. It is the perfect setting for nautical sports, fishing and diving, and boat tours that offer beautiful sights, with an extra gift of dolphins in the bay area.

Serra Verde Imperial (Imperial Green Mountain Range) Petrópolis, Teresópolis, Itaipava, Nova Friburgo, etc.

Privileged weather, good restaurants, and the charm of the Imperial City (Petrópolis) wait for you in the mountain region near Rio city. The climate invites you to enjoy the pleasure of good food. This region has excellent restaurants, hotels, cozy inns and gorgeous sceneries. The winter festivals are always great events, offering a special culinary and artisanal beer. Rivers with clear water, waterfalls, trails, exuberant forest, and imposing cliffs – are an invitation to mountaineering and ecotourism.

Vale do Café (Coffee Valley) Vassouras, Valença, Conservatória, etc.

The nobility of farms and the big colonial houses complement the mountains and valleys scenery, resulting in a welcoming atmosphere. The Coffee Valley region offers the visitors an excellent vision of Rio de Janeiro colonial history through its rural architecture; a rich cultural patrimony worth visiting and exploring. The landscape, named Sea of Hills, provides many leisure options for ecological adventures and rural tourism, with an extra flair in Conservatória that is well known for its musical events.

Parque Nacional do Itatiaia (Itatiaia National Park) Mauá, Itatiaia, Agulhas Negras, Penedo, etc.

It is the first Brazilian National Park, celebrating 70 years in 2017. It has a mountain climate, exuberant Atlantic Forest and almost bare cliffs and peaks, including the famous Agulhas Negras (Black Needles) that in some years are white by snow in the winter. The region is one of most precious ecological sanctuaries of Southern Brazil, due to its exuberant nature and surprising natural beauty. The European culture in the neighboring towns marks the local gastronomy and fish (trout) is one of the prized specialties, completing the region scenery. The Itatiaia National Park shelters animals and plant species that exists nowhere else. It is the perfect setting for long walks and hiking, diving into crystal clear and cold waters, or simply to watch the exuberant nature of one the most beautiful mountain regions of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Costa do Sol (Sun Coast) Búzios, Cabo Frio, Araruama, etc.

Sun, salt, blue sky and the wilderness of the ocean. You start feeling the magic of the Sun Coast when you see the first windmill and salt flats – land marks of this region. Afterwards, there are hundreds of wonderful beaches and lagoons, one after the other. A perfect itinerary for those who like the sun, wind, sea, aquatic sports, beautiful people and good food. High quality restaurants and a lively night life can be found all through the Sun Coast.
