The 2nd article of the SBCS Statutes presents the main objectives of the society as follows:
a) to promote and improve association between partners and exchange of knowledge between those involved in research, education, disclosure or technical activities toward a better use of soil and water in Brazil;
b) to disseminate the knowledge of scientific methods and applied technologies for use in the treatment and conservation of soil and water;
c) to adapt and standardize nomenclature, methods of soil analysis, and quality control;
d) to contribute to development of the Brazilian of Soils Classification System and soil surveys;
e) support the development of Soil Science-specialized libraries, museums, and databases in Soil Science.
To achieve its goals, SBCS has been promoting several special events and periodical meetings for exchange of knowledge, and dissemination of Soil Science studies. The Brazilian Congress of Soil Science is now in the 35th version. Additionally, the SBCS promoted 23 events of the Brazilian Meeting of soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition, 27 Management and Conservation of Soil and Water events, and 7 FertBio (Brazilian Meeting of Fertility and Soil Biology) events. SBCS is also responsible for the Field Soil Correlation and Classification Meetings, an event in which pedologists discuss soil genesis, morphology and classification, validation of the Brazilian Soil Classification System, setting of standards, as well as applications in soil conservation and land capability.
Dear participants of the 21th WCSS,
We are sharing the images taken at the Convention Center to remind you of the great time we had during the event.
